You are Invited: Grand Rapids Bridal Shower

Saturday, March 9, 2013

I just wanted to share the invites for my first bridal shower. We are having it the week after our tasting session at City Flat Ballroom in order to make sure Charyl can be at both. It worked out quite nicely, if I do say so myself. We'll be having it at Charyl's church (within walking distance of our house right now!) and all my bridesmaids, my mom and grandma, Mike's relatives, and my friends from the GR area are invited (my mom is throwing another one in April for my side of the family and up north friends). We've decided on a spring theme (with watermelon colors) and here is the invite I created for it! I will share photos of the shower itself too :-)

Engagement Photos!

By Kate Morrow Photography

It was a very warm weekend, even with the windiness. Our hair is a little questionable, but I love engagement photos. Katie did a great job! We'll be doing our wedding photos in the same area, although I think we'll find some other spots nearby too, so everything goes nicely together! Yay, it's kind of fun to get to be in front of the camera!

Tuxes: Looking Good!

January 15, 2013

Mike and I finally got to go check out the tuxes at Men's Warehouse yesterday. I haven't heard the best things about Men's Warehouse, but their numerous locations will probably make it the best option for us with a few people scattered around (Joe in Alabama, Ron in Florida, Justin in Chicago, Dustin in Kzoo, and my dad up in Harrison). So anyway, we went knowing we wanted gray tuxes. Of course there are only TWO options. I liked the darker one and Mike liked the more textured lighter one but ended up choosing the more slim fit dark on because it looked more formal. Then we had to talk color with the three groups of guys we have, the groom, the groomsmen/ushers, and the dads. We ended up agreeing (or at least I think he liked what we picked!) and here's what we came up with!

Since I didn't bring my camera (I knew Mike wouldn't really like that! ;), I created the same tuxes from the Men's Warehouse website. On the left, you'll see the groomsmen and usher's outfits. They will have the blue to match the bridesmaid dresses. Looking sharp. In the middle is Mike's full tux (I left the coats off the other two to show off the color differences) with the white vest and tie. Then on the right is the silver for the three dads. I think we did a good job! They will all look so sharp! And Mike also gets his rental free and a FREE suit because of all the rentals we are setting up. Yay, aren't we cool? Can't wait!

Kristin's Bachelorette Party

Celebrating in Royal Fashion

On Kristin's last night out as a single lady, we will be celebrating in royal style! Each guest is encouraged to pick a Disney lady or other princess and dress up (SUBTLY, please :) as her character. Some of us have already chosen our characters, check the photo below to see who's still available! We want to get as many different princesses as possible, so let's try not to duplicate anyone if we don't need to.

If you don't "get" it or need a little help, check out this fun thing we found on Pinterest. Just go with your lady/princess's color and maybe some jewelry or an outfit that goes with her character. Nothing too elaborate, we want to be the only ones to know what we are doing! And we'll take lots of photos of us looking fab, of course.

Be sure to let Jenna know which character you want if you are coming ASAP!
jennarose0224@hotmail.com, 989-429-4711, or respond via Facebook

When: Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 6pm
Where: Courtyard by Marriott hotel, downtown GR (out for dinner and dancing after)
RSVP by: February 1, 2013
And: If you'd like to stay the night with us at the hotel, we'd love for you to stay. We're splitting a room so let us know that you are staying so we can let you know what the final room cost will be.
Hope to see you all there!

Bridesmaid Dresses: Done!

January 5, 2012

One really fun exciting part of the wedding planning is getting your friends in on it. I picked five of my closest to do just that! One the first day, my maid of honor and sister, Kara, was there, as well as my other bridesmaids, Angie (who helped pick out my dress with Kara), and Ica (who was up from Florida visiting). And on the second day, my other two ladies, Oole and Judi, were there. We made a decision too, which is great. And props to another friend, even though she's not IN the wedding, my other friend, Kristin Huyck, is my mistress of honor. Though she's not in the photos, she helped on day one with dress picking! And so did my mom. Thanks ladies! I had a blast!

^Round one... not so sure about these ones!

^Hmmm, these ones either!

^Our favorites from Alfred Angelo.

^Checking the blues with the gray (for the tuxes).

^Well, it's definitely festive...

^They liked this one... I'm not quite convinced.

^NO! Our boobs look weird!

^Yes! These ones!

^And we like silver shoes with the dresses in THIS blue.

^Oole trying on the David's Bridal pick on day two.

^Judy likes it too!

^The correct color of our new bridesmaid dresses!

^And just because, I thought I'd get in on the 'trying on dresses' fun and got this little number for the rehearsal dinner. Also those super cute silver shoes! :-) Mission: accomplished!
