Photographing the Tulips

May 4, 2020

Everything is getting cancelled this year, and Tulip Time is one of those things. However, I've always preferred to go see the Tulips when the festival itself isn't actually going on anyway. I had the "bright" idea of letting the girls bring cameras along and take photos when we went. I got out two of my smaller and older cameras, showed them how to work them (somewhat) and turned them loose! They really did enjoy it, and it was fun watching them and their own unique shooting styles. Julie was more methodical about it and was interested in getting posed photos as well. Laina did lots of close ups and was already on to the next patch before we even knew it.

Not a lot of photos turned out great, but they did get a few really good shots. I might have to get them printed and framed! What a fun day!

Trip to GVSU

April 28, 2020

As usual, by the time spring is really ramping up, we can hardly wait to get outside. With all this social distancing happening (and me being stuck at home with the girls all week!) we were definitely ready for an adventure outside. We went to the Grand Valley campus in Allendale to explore, wear pretty dresses and sort of let Mom take photos. I showed the girls some cool things from when I was in school. They liked the star sculpture the most (and I let them play on it...) as well as the walking bridge over the ravines. The water fountain was a hit despite that it wasn't going, and they were impressed with the carillon too. We even made friends with a guy fishing in the pond. All and all, a fun little trip on a nice sunny day!

^Jungle gym? Close enough.

^Running to the bridge.

^To the fountain!

^NEXT!!!

^Throwing rocks in the pond is the highlight of our day...

^Goofy Lu ;)

^Ahhh a great day to get out!

Easter Morning

April 12, 2020

This whole year has been unprecedented and Easter morning didn't allow us to go to church as we usually would. However the kids have been adapting fairly well and we still go to do our egg hunt and Easter baskets. The girls got books, face paint tattoos, and fancy shoes this year. They were pretty happy with that, even if they were pretty slippery on the wood floor!

^So excited!

^Finding eggs all around.

^Success, all before 9am!

Easter Cookies & Egg Decorating

April 9, 2020

Mommy had the bright idea to created paint-able cookies for Easter this year. Royal icing is a new hobby of mine and I got the kids and Mike involved with painting with food coloring. We all had a pretty good time, and had some yummy cookies to show for it, even if they were a little weird looking, mostly!

^Laina was a little heavy handed on the water, but she had fun!

^So art!

April 11, 2020

At the LAST minute, we finally got our Easter eggs decorated! I'm not sure what took us so long but hey, it got done. We didn't do a ton but we needed a few for the Easter Bunny to hide for us. Mission: accomplished.

^Slicked back hair from bath time ;)

^They were more excited to eat the broken ones than to color 'em, I think!

^CHOMP!

^Oops, don't forget the stickers ;)
