Little Brat!

September 25, 2014

My little missy is a bratty little lady already. Haha, I'm mostly kidding but here's what I mean. Starting last week, she decided it would be fun to use my bladder as a punching bag. I'm at least glad she doesn't think it's a football ;) I think she's got her head down toward my hips most of the time (although she moved last night) and her legs are up by the right side of my belly because that's where I feel her kicks the most. They definitely don't hurt but she's only 2lbs right now. I think she'll be bruising me before November.

The other reason little missy is a brat is because EVERY TIME she starts kicking and does it for any length of time (I put my hand there to see if I can feel it and see if she's getting in some good ones), I call her daddy over to hopefully feel it and EVERY TIME she stops as soon as he gets his hands on my belly. Last night, I got up to pee around 3am and Mike was sort of awake and she was clobbering me on my left side. As soon as Daddy tries to feel it, though, she decided to be done. What a poop! There have been a couple times that I thought he should have felt a little one but so far, not yet. Grrr! I want him to feel it too! It's so neat! I'm sure when she gets her muscles growing and she gets bigger, we won't be able to miss it!

Right now, everything seems to be going well. I like it when she moves because I know she's doing all right in there. And now it's time to feed us, so I'm off!

BONUS!
My cravings so far:

I haven't had any WEIRD cravings but here's what I've been up to for this pregnancy (once I actually wanted to eat food again :)
~First had-to-have-almost-every-day craving - blueberry bagels with cream cheese
~Second had-to-have craving - toaster strudels (anything of the fruit variety)
~Third had-to-have-every-day (EVERY!) craving - apples (preferably galas, and more than one!)

At least they are getting healthier. Oh and I will NEVER turn down a dill pickle :D

Dear Baby Girl: Part Eleven

September 16, 2014

Dear Baby Girl

Got a long one for you today! I just got back from the doctor's and you are still sounding pretty good in there! Always good to hear your heartbeat. We're almost 26 weeks now, getting closer and closer, and there is still so much to do. We hardly have ANY of your stuff yet, but we'll be working on it very soon. Dad and I want to take a class before you get here and we also have to decide a few things yet, and time flies so it'll be here before we know it. Yikes! Mom's not ready...

I've gained 20lbs since you decided to come along. I'm not sure if that's very good or not. Doctor hasn't said too much about it, so I'm guessing its okay. I get the glucose test next time I'm there. That will tell me if YOU will end up being a big ol' sucker potentially. Let's hope no gestational diabetes for me, cuz then I can't have any more tasty snacks for awhile!

I ran into your friends Mason and Sophia at the doctor's office! Auntie Erika goes there too and she was leaving when I got there for your check up. Mason was being a silly and thought I was a weirdee, but Sophia was happy to see me. She showed me her monkey backpack (which Auntie Erika said will end up for you someday) and gave me a big kiss when they left. I bet you two will have some good times in a few years.

After I done at the doctor's and almost went to visit Grandma Charyl. She just had knee replacement surgery. She has been having trouble for awhile and it was finally time. She wanted to get it done with time to recover before you come around. I will go visit her later this week when she's feeling a little better. She's at the same hospital that you will be born at. Still wrapping my head around that. She's throwing a baby shower for you next month, and so is Grandma Patti. It should be fun, but it's still about a month away. We'll get to that soon!

Last week was Auntie Kara's birthday. We went to dinner and went to visit some animals and stuff. Then on the weekend we went to an apple orchard. It was pretty amusing. It will be more fun when you can come too! We went and ate some donuts, bought some apples and wine, which I can't have until you come into the world. I'll save it to celebrate! We walked around the orchard a little too. Next year, you can come. Mom LOVES this time of year, because of apple orchards, fall colors and Halloween. I'm so happy you'll be getting pretty big and be old enough to do a lot of those fun things!

Anyway, since Mom is getting bigger and I never started doing the regular belly photos, I like to include them when I can. This is when Auntie Kara and I were out at the apple orchard. Forgive Mom for looking weird, but that's you in there!

Love, Mommy!

Another Friend

September 10, 2014

I was a little stressed out this week because my belly has lots of red polka dots all over it. Most are little but a few are bigger and I am just hoping it's not PUPPs (something very itchy and that may not go away until baby comes... that's still 3 months away!). It's not itchy most of the time, so fingers crossed it's not that (and nothing else worrisome) because that can spread to my arms and legs too, and wouldn't THAT be unpleasant?

Anyway, the point of this post was a few photos of my baby-in-the-making and one of her future friends, Olivia! She's a little cutie and getting so big! Three months this week, and she's only going to be about six months ahead of Baby Girl Hoek so they should be able to have some fun together! Mike and I went down to the Kzoo area for her dedication at church, so that was nice. We had to run a little sooner than I had hoped but we did snap a couple quick photos of the future friends :) Puss (that's what I call Olivia for some reason) wasn't thrilled with photos at the moment but she put up with it ;)

Next summer will be so much fun! Baby Girl Hoek will be big enough to do some outside things along with Olivia and Baby Moe, so it'll be a lovely time! As long as I can get back into shape, of course! Otherwise, no swimsuit fun for Mom! Haha.

Feeling Fat

September 8, 2014

Though pregnancy hasn't been TOO bad for me (although definitely not very pleasant either), one of the worst things to worry about is getting fatter. It took me quite a bit of time to really start showing-- I think it was around 18 weeks or so--but now that I am, I'm starting to feel very chunky. I've definitely gained a lot of weight. And though I asked Dr. Lown if I'm on track (he says yes), I still worry I'm going to get pretty huge. I'm not the best at eating well, though I have been munch fruit as often as possible at least, and TRY To pay attention to what I'm eating when I'm not craving anything in particular, but sometimes I just feel like a blimp.

Friday for instance, I was busy all day and it was so hot and humid that when we went out to the comedy club, I just threw on a T-shirt and maxi skirt and called it good. Looking at myself in the mirror at the B.O.B. didn't do much for my confidence (nor did standing next to my skinny sister, but still ;). Although the next day, I chose my outfit a little more carefully and I felt okay. Whatever. Body image is hard for every lady. I just know I've got THREE MORE MONTHS of growing to do.

Next month (a month from yesterday, actually), I'm having my maternity photos done, and I REALLY hope I don't feel too massive by then. That would make me sad. Mike says my face isn't any bigger, which is what I worry about the most. I definitely have the back fat going on, and my thighs and arms are showing signs of fatness, but hopefully I will not get too huge.

We'll see how I feel come the new year. I really hope they weren't kidding about breastfeeding weight loss, because it's not going to be easy to get out of the house to exercise!
