Labor Day weekend kept right on going on Saturday. We figured we needed something fun to do with Jules as we had a rare day together. After her last swim class was over, we went to Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park in Alto. I thought it was a petting zoo, but NO! These were mostly exotic animals. It seemed like a really nice park, and Julie enjoyed seeing all the creatures. She liked the monkeys (I enjoyed the lemurs) and the kangroos. She was singing a song the whole time we were looking at them. Then we got a lettuce leaf and fed a giraffe! That was pretty awesome too. Last we went on a safari ride where we saw a few animals, mostly antelope and such but also zebras and part of a hyena (he was in the grass sleeping). A pretty fun adventure!
After Julie got (kind of) a nap and some lunch at home, we went up to Cedar Springs to Deer Tracks Junction. They have a farm animal exhibit and a deer exhibit where you can pet and feed some of the animals. We bought some pellets and hay balls or whatever so we could see if Julie would do it. I thought she'd be nervous but she was pretty good about it. She got to hold and pet a bunny (with Daddy) and her favorite was the mama pig feeding her babies and probably the baby whitetails on the deer side. So cute.
After we went to Rockford, had dinner (Julie was on her best behavior!), walked by the dam and got ice cream at Rocky's. Good times!
