UP North (Part 1)

June 22 - 29, 2019

Another year, another full week of our UP North trip. As usual, I was very excited to go. We had rented the BIG cabin this year and it was pretty awesome, though a bit different! Anyway, our first adventure started on the way up. We had Dad's trailer loaded with stuff for the trip and just past Houghton Lake, we blew a tire! Mike and I were able to put on the spare (after some selfies with the girls) but then we had to pit stop in Gaylord to get all of them replaced, just in case!

Finally, we were in the UP. Greg, Grandma, Mom and Aunt Kim were there in the new cabin. The girls explored a bit and found their two favorite spots - swings and sand pit. Our first full day was Sunday and it was nice out. Mike used the quad to explore the trails, which he loved. He took Laina and she fell asleep. Jules "fished" off our dock on Lake Millecoquins and we went for a ride in the woods before getting some ice cream.

Monday was very rainy, but it let up enough to explore the club property. We did a little tour to Cranberry Lake (where the mosquitoes were HORRIBLE) and then to Pull-Up Lake where they were mostly tolerable. Even Grandma came with us on this little excursion, which she doesn't usually do. She wasn't feeling the best this week, but not too bad, so we are thankful she could come up and spend time with us all. We also saw a BIG snapping turtle at Pull-Up.

Tuesday, Mike, Greg and I managed to go golfing one morning when the weather was lovely again. I love that little course, even though I still don't play a great game ;) Another fun day on the Club.

On Wednesday, we went up to Whitefish Point for the first time in years. Julie was very interested in all the shipwreck history, I was impressed! We took a look at Lake Superior (Mike had never seen it!!!) and the flies were bad but we managed. Aunt Jean and Paul visited, along with Candy, and Kara made it up finally!

^Tire fiasco!

^Cool cabin!

^Greg hadn't been up in almost 20 years, so he made all the required location visits and had lots of stories to share.

^Paul got almost all of us up to Mt Baldy and so far back in the Club. Too long of a ride but still pretty cool.
