June 29, 2015
It was far to short, as it usually is. We haven't been to the UP for over a year, since last year I was kind of pregnant and not really concerned with going places ;) This was also the first time in a long time that we've gone up in June. It wasn't super warm but it was very nice. Grandma went up on Sunday (because they make you take a week between Memorial and Labor Days) and Mom and Aunt Kim went up a day or so later. Mike and I made it up there with Julie on Thursday morning. We had the cabins all to ourselves! We didn't do anything too exciting on our first day, but we showed Julie the lake and went for a ride in the woods with her. We didn't put her in the car seat but I suppose woods rides are okay to skip it.

On the second day, we went to Kitch'iti'kipi in Manistique. It's a freshwater spring with a raft that allows you to see all the way to the bottom of the pool. Very pretty, kind of a neat little trip! It was a long drive for a short stop but hey, something to do! Mike and I went fishing that night (well, he fished, I just sat in the boat ;) and Julie hung out with the ladies. Kara and Dad got up just before dark that night. They couldn't get off work any sooner but we were glad they could make it.

Our last full day, Mike rented a pontoon for us to cruise around Lake Millecoquins in. That's something new for us! We put Julie in her life jacket at first but oh, she was mad. We took her out and just were careful even though that's probably not the best thing to do. It was more fun for her though. We cruised around by the old cabin Grandma and Grandpa used to own, and saw the big houses that have recently been built on that side of the lake. Mike did some fishing and Julie took a nap. We ate lunch on the lake but came in after a few hours. We did ride in the woods and then had dinner before going back out on the boat to watch the sunset. I did the navigating for that part of the trip. Julie liked it too. It was a fun trip.

We left on Sunday and made a stop for breakfast before we crossed the bridge. Although it was too short, it was a very fun trip. Next year, maybe we'll have to go back to a week's worth of UP North time!
