Laina Lu: Week 13

April 26, 2017

Another week, a bigger Laina! She's been doing so well, though we may be starting to catch another cold. You can only hold out so long when big sister is around coughing on everything ;) Anyway, Laina started out her this week hanging out with Uncle Nick before he left. He came over one more time and she spent most of it being held by him and chewing on his finger. She's definitely getting more drooly and liking to put things in her mouth. I remember this stage... time to break out the bibs again soon!

This weekend we went to Windmill Island Gardens (see that previous post) and Laina went with me to church. Julie was too snuffly so I figured we wouldn't share the germs. We spent the rest of that day outside enjoying the beautiful weather. I'm so glad summer is on the way! All the flowers are coming up and the trees are flowering. Beautiful!

Laina is almost able to hold her head up at tummy time. I was very impressed over the weekend. AND she has been sleeping all night for almost a week. Hooray! We have to work on getting her in her crib next. But we're going to wait until we get back from our trip... and that's the significance of her outfit this time. Mike and I are going to Las Vegas for almost a week (what in the heck were we thinking?!?) and the girls are spending all that time with their grandmas. I'm going to miss them so much. Our next update on Laina's weeks will be purely from Grandma reports!

Third Month

April 25, 2017

It's so much fun watching your babies grow. I also, so far, love comparing what Julie did to what Laina is doing. They are pretty close, though Laina is quite a bit bigger than Julie was at this age. But I'm happy because Laina finally started sleeping all night... now we just have to get her into her crib. Soon, soon. Happy 3 months, lovey! Her portraits will be coming in the next couple weeks!

Wow, she's just getting so big! And I love seeing how much different she is from Julie at the same age. I think we are going to have two very different looking girls, but they are both my little pretties!

^And we can't forget our Julie! She gave me pretty smiles for this photo!

Tulips @ Windmilll Island Gardens

April 22, 2017

Since I hate crowds and since the tulips are VERY early this year, we went out to Windmill Island Gardens to get a jump on Tulip Time this past weekend. The Ronas's came with us and though we got there a touch late and the girls didn't want to cooperate for photos, it was a fun time anyway! We went on the tour of the windmill, which really came from the Netherlands and actually is currently operational in making flour. I couldn't hear much else of the tour since Julie was being a poop and talking and messing around during the whole thing. Hien and I were trying to get photos of the girls but they weren't interested. We got to ride the carousel though and then they played on the playground. It was a bit chilly but still a fun time.

We had dinner at New Holland Brewing and I was reminded how I don't love going out with that many kids but we managed somehow... yikes ;)

^Angry looking Laina!

^Not listening again ;)

^I got to ride with Bussy this time. Fun ride!

^Charles got the carousel operator to hold it open for us to get a quick ride in :)

^Mike liked these tulip chairs. A bit too much. No, we can't have them in our yard.

^Oh! My pretty big girl!

^Awesome, thanks Allie! :D

^I got Jules to run to the windmill.

^Time to play!

Laina: Week 12

April 19, 2017

Laina is almost 3 months old! 12 weeks, wow! That makes her not a newborn anymore, but just a good old infant :) She's so aware and, most of the time, such a happy, smiley little one! It's so fun to see her big old grins. Even if she is still not the most consistent sleeper. She did 3 all nights, but that also means she wakes up REALLY early. Luckily my body is more or less used to it. Still, I'm tired ;)

This week, Laina got to meet Uncle Nick! I was worried he wasn't going to be able to come from Switzerland but it worked out (just a day later) and she got to meet him on Saturday. They also had us over for Easter dinner on Sunday and then both the girls went over there on Monday for the day. Nick says that they have hit it off, so that's good news!

Other events of this week... we did the Easter egg hunt in East GR, and then at our house of course. Church and some time at Grandma Charyl and Grandpa Ron's on Sunday night. Mommy and Daddy went out with Uncle Nick and Aunt Kara for Nick's birthday (next Sunday) too, so that was a fun time for the adults. We are just about always busy these days but that means lots of fun things to do, so I guess that's awesome :D

Julie-isms to note: Julie calls anything chocolate "chocolate cake". As in, "what kind of ice cream do you want, Julie?" "Chocolate cake." She also often says "Mmmmm tasty treat!" Sometimes she says that for her toothpaste. Yet she still doesn't want to brush her teeth...

^Outfits were Easter gifts... the headband/turban is from Grandma Charyl. Outfit by Grandma Nore.

^Grandma Patti got her some outfits too, but they are bigger so we'll have to wait until summer for those!

^Precious happy girl!

^Hooray!

^Julie wanted photos too. She always does and then refuses. And then usually does them anyway.

^They love each other :D

^Daddy put pants on Laina!

^Jumpin'.
