On our second day, we booked a bunch of excursions, but didn't make any for that day, so we had another free day to explore. We got up early for some bagels for breakfast (and whatever Mike had... ;) and then we found Lahaina (southeast of our resort and such) and wandered up and down the main street on the coast for quite awhile. There were lots of shops and restaurants and such. We got to see the HUGE banyan tree (which I thought was pretty sweet), Mike bought a bunch of shirts, lots of art dealers tried to get us to spend $20,000 and then we stopped for lunch. We went to the Lahaina Pizza Co. for lunch and it was pretty tasty. We wandered around a little more and took more photos before headed further east (seeing some of the island we missed when we arrived since it was dark).
Someone somewhere had mentioned a place called Big Beach and we set off to find it. We did, and there were some CRAZY huge waves. I forgot what it felt like to swim in salt water, but I sucked it up cuz how can you resist waves like that? We didn't go out far because the rip tides would have been pretty dangerous (you could REALLY feel the pull when the waves pulled back). I got knocked over quite a few times, and sand got just about everywhere. One of the huge waves literally tossed me up the beach. I lost my bathing suit bottoms down to my knees, but managed to get it back up before anyone saw too much. Not sure that I can say the same about my top but oh well. It was a blast.
After that, we headed back to our resort and got freshened up and had dinner at one of my favorite places we visited while we were there, Basil Tomatoes which was right at the entrance to our resort. It was pretty price but the raviolis I had were so amazing, it was worth it. By then we were bushed and we headed to bed again!
